The V International ICCA Congress, focusing on Democracy, Politics and Intelligent Administration in Critical Times will be held in Somosaguas (Madrid, Spain) on November 20-22nd, 2024. In the following weeks I will complete the information on the Panel I am chairing together with Prof Ronih Justo-Hanani (Department of Public Policy, and the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, TAU) and Prof Zheng Tain-cheng (CDI, Shenzhen). The Congress is organized by the Complutense Institute of Administration Sciences and will be held at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).

I am co-chairing GT. 5 Artificial intelligence: Governance and Legitimacy in Comparative Perspective.
This working group is focusing on the regulation of artificial intelligence in a comparative perspective, European Union´s risk-based approach and the role of co-regulation. The working group seeks to discuss contributions for an edited book. The group of senior and junior scientists is aiming to know more about the regulation of artificial intelligence in China, the European Union, countries in the Middle East and the United States. The group is also seeking contributions about other geographies in Africa, Eurasia, and Latin America.
The work of the Working Group will unfold in three block sections: in the first block we will discuss the framework of reference for analysis using as point of departure Governance and Legitimacy of Artificial Intelligence. Strengths and pitfalls of the Gil Dashboard (see Annex 1) will be analyzed and alternatives to it will be discussed as a baseline framework. In the second block, case studies from the geographical spaces will be presented. The third block may include other stakeholders, different to scientists, as this group is open to the participation of industry leaders, politicians and public administrators involved in artificial intelligence innovation and regulation. The three researchers co-chairing this working group are Dr. Olga Gil (School of Government, UCM), and by invitation, Prof. Dr. Ronit Justo-Hanani (Department of Public Policy, and the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, TAU) and Prof. Dr. Zheng (CDI, Shenzhen). In person and online formats will be admitted.
The contents of GT5 are being revised together with Profs. Dr. Justo-Hanani and Dr. Zheng, and the text adapted accordingly.
